"Photography and art can play a crucial role in the social regeneration of a territory: this is the vision behind Artlab Eyeland, an initiative realised by PhEST, a cultural association that has been organising the International Festival of Photography and Art in Monopoli for eight years, in collaboration with the Municipality of Taranto and under the patronage of the Apulia Region and the National Superintendency for Underwater Cultural Heritage.

The final objective of the initiative: to encourage the ferment and vitality of the city 'between the two seas' in order to make it to all effects an 'island of the arts', a living organism in continuous transformation."
